Harryette Mullen : interesting take on 2 lines
Here's a very good analysis of a poem by one American poet Harryette Mullen.
She just won the Academy of American Poets Fellowship 2009.
Take a look at how ROBIN TREMBLAY-MCGAW, at X POETICS, interprets these lines:

Yes, MM, this is not uncommon. Even Wendy Cope does it:

Well, I could say rhymed couplet, like Wendy Cope's. This seems more like a pantun's natural image/sound | meaning structure.
A google search for Harryette Mullen brought me to this image, which is not Harryette Mullen but Evie Shockley. Just because both poets are African American does not make them interchangeable.
